21st CENTURY FRANCE FOOTPRINTS
I travelled to France in the spring and fall of 2018. Plans for 2020 were cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. During June 2023 a visit to the Loire Valley was completed. Future plans include a visit to Normandy.
So far, I have left footprints at 11 Ancestral locations. On the map below the villages or cities visited during 2018 are outlined in dark black. The list of villages and cities visited include: Fontenay-le-Comte, Frontenay-Rohan-Rohan, La Rochelle, Niort, Rouen, and St. Philbert du Pont Charrault. The first and last locations were visited at the start and end of a long distance walk completed in the Vendee department of the Pays de la Loire region of France.
On the map below the villages and towns visited during 2023 are outlined in green. The list of villages and towns include: Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Montargis, Blois, Amboise and Chateaudun.
My family history scope also includes the forefathers of the women in my matrilineal ancestry that crossed the Atlantic ocean from France to New France. Acknowledgement of these forefathers and the France locations they came from will be included when relevant.
